Our Ethos
We provide a child‑centred, inclusive environment where learning is meaningful, experiential and rooted in the natural world. We ensure every child develops the skills, confidence and understanding they need to thrive, not only in childhood but throughout life.
Early years: EYFS Statutory Framework and Birth to 5 matters
The EYFS Statutory Framework and Birth to 5 guide everything we do at The Fledglings, ensuring every child gets the best start in life. But it is through our experiential programme that teaching, learning and achievement become truly transformational for every child.

Learning begins with play, exploration and curiosity. We follow children’s interests through both in-the-moment planning, dipping in and out of themes as engagement levels guide us and by diving deeper into themes the children are enjoying over weeks at a time. By observing closely and working in partnership with families, we scaffold learning, building on what children already know and supporting them to take the next steps.

Children experience the world through hands-on, meaningful activities. From experimenting with water, natural materials and art, to cooking, gardening and imaginative projects. Every experience sparks imagination, confidence and life skills.

We nurture mind, body and spirit, supporting emotional awareness, resilience and self-expression in a safe, stimulating environment. Children are leaders of their own learning, celebrated for curiosity, problem-solving and independence, with opportunities that challenge, inspire and build responsibility.

From their first day to the transition to their next step, children at The Fledglings enjoy joyful, meaningful and future-focused progressive learning, leaving confident, capable and ready to thrive in an ever-changing world.
